Shuldex is used by people of every age and ability, including gabbaim who have been running their shul for decades. Making it usable by all of them is part of building it, not an afterthought.

The standard we aim at

The site and the application are built to meet Israeli Standard 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.1 level AA, under the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments to Service) Regulations.

What has been made accessible

The following have been implemented and tested:

  • Full keyboard navigation on every screen, with a clearly visible focus indicator
  • A correct heading structure and landmark regions (main, nav) for screen readers
  • Labels on every form field and on every icon-only button
  • Error messages announced to screen readers, and tables with marked column headers
  • Colour contrast meeting level AA, in both the light and the dark theme
  • Full right-to-left support, and text that reflows when the browser zooms
  • Input fields sized so mobile browsers do not zoom the page on focus

What is not accessible yet

We would rather say this plainly than make a blanket claim:

  • The seat map editor is drag-and-drop and is not yet fully operable by keyboard. Contact us and we will make the change for you.
  • Two secondary text colours in the light theme sit slightly below the required contrast ratio and are being corrected.
  • Content an institution enters itself — names, notes and uploaded files — remains that institution’s responsibility.

Found a barrier?

We want to hear about it and we will act on it. Our accessibility coordinator is reachable at [email protected].

It helps if you can include the address of the page, a short description of the problem, and the browser or assistive technology you were using.
